Item Description
This is one Australian Walt Disney edition as shown in the pictures supplied. This is a standard size edition in full colour. Please check out the pictures supplied for further information on this great comic.
This is a vintage Australian edition of Walt Disney's Comics No. 375, published in November 1977. It was printed locally in Australia by Wogan Pty. Ltd. These local printings were produced using traditional newsprint interiors and matte color covers, distributed throughout Australia as well as select regional markets like Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei.
This specific 1977 Australian issue compiles several classic Disney comic stories originally published by Gold Key and Western Publishing in the United States.
The first featured story is Donald and Daisy in The Not-So-Ancient Mariner. This legendary tale was written, penciled, and inked by the iconic Disney master Carl Barks. Originally published in the United States in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issue number 312 in September 1966, this story marks one of the final ten-page comic book creations Carl Barks completed before his retirement, making it a crucial piece of comic history.
The second story is a Mickey Mouse mystery titled The Ghost Noises. This adventure features art by the acclaimed long-time Mickey Mouse artist Paul Murry. It originally appeared in the United States in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issue number 312 in September 1966.
The third included tale is a Three Little Pigs adventure titled The Pigskin Wolf. This story features artwork by pencil artist Pete Alvarado and inks by Tony DiPaola. It originally debuted for American audiences in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issue number 312 in September 1966.
The fourth story is Mickey Mouse in The Lame Plane. This classic comic story was illustrated by artist Jack Bradbury. It was originally published in the United States in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issue number 294 in July 1965.
The comic collection also contains a single-page Mickey Mouse and Goofy gag strip centered around a fortune cookie.
The history of this publication connects deeply to the legacy of classic Australian comic book printing. Wogan Pty. Ltd. was originally known as W. G. Publications, a prominent Australian publisher that continuously produced local Disney reprints from 1946 until 1978. The company renamed itself to Wogan Publications in 1974. These localized editions are highly sought after by international collectors today because they had much smaller print runs compared to their American counterparts and represent a distinct era of localized comic production. This item is ideal for collectors of vintage Australian Disney memorabilia, fans of Carl Barks Duck stories, and Bronze Age comic book enthusiasts.
The comic will be bagged and shipped with cardboard to protect. The package will have a "Do Not Bend" in red ink stamped on the front and back. Another classic Australian comic back issue.
