On the ring is a small stamp of a Crown and initials BL not sure what this means


J.C. Midland Bank Ltd refers to the :

London Joint City and Midland Bank Limited,

a historical name used by Midland Bank between 1918 and 1923. It was formed after the London City and Midland Bank merged with the London Joint Stock Bank in 1918, before shortening its name to Midland Bank Ltd in 1923.

History and Name Changes

1836: Founded originally as the Birmingham and Midland Bank.
1891: Merged with the Central Bank of London to become the London City and Midland Bank.

1918: Amalgamated with the London Joint Stock Bank Ltd, updating the name to London Joint City and Midland Bank Limited (L.J.C. & M. Bank).


1923: Officially shortened and simplified its corporate identity to Midland Bank Ltd.
1992–1999: Acquired by HSBC Holdings plc, which fully phased out the historic Midland brand name by June 1999 in favor of HSBC.
Legacy
Grew to become one of the UK's historical "Big Four" clearing banks.
Pioneered widespread free banking in 1984 by scrapping standard current account charges.
