| Additional Information: | The obverse shows a Bishops head and Crozier and the Reverse a Shield of Arms. The edge is marked "Payable at Cronebane Lodge or in Dublin" . During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the British government failed to mint a sufficient supply of low-denomination official copper coins. To counter this shortage and facilitate daily local commerce during the Napoleonic Wars, private businesses and regional municipalities minted their own commercial "trade tokens". These tokens circulated extensively as an alternative currency until they were officially outlawed by the British government in 1817. |
Unfortunately International postage is high as Australia Post does not allow merchandise to be sent as a letter - I do however only charge the cost of the stamp - additional costs may be added automatically by Ebay to account for VAT/Import tax etc. All photos are of the item for sale - and supersized photos are available by clicking on the images. International combined postage available for items in same category.
