A very interesting and well preserved volume. Large and very heavy Livery journal or Ledger, partial leather binding, very thick and sturdy book. Clean, no odors, tightly bound. One page has entries, the rest are all blank and very clean.
The page with the hand writing notes the down payment and purchase of a horse named "Shadow", which was purchased for $375 plus the costs of oats and sugar cubes.
Each page has the year to fill in and is printed "187_", the first page has "2" hand written in for 1872.
The publisher of the book has their plate in front, very interesting to read, published date 1866 and 1867. There is one detached page with some hand writing and names of people who rented and rode or boarded (?) some horses.
Measures 14 1/2"" by 9 1/2 and is 1 1/2" thick. Weighs at least 6 or 7 pounds, maybe more.
This was well stored and is very well preserved.
