45 Vintage Art Fashion Prints from the Rare Art Book -
Le Costume Breton de 1900 by Artist Victor Lhuer . This includes 45 of the original 99 prints published in that loose-leaf portfolio. Beautifully hand-colored watercolored pages featuring the folk costumes of the Breton region in France. Please note that every print has a stamp from the Portland Art Museum on the reverse side - which are really only noticeable from the front side if you hold them up to the light (see photo for details). Beautiful hand-tinted prints featuring a wide range of folk costumes. Wonderful for anyone interested in Breton history or for illustrators / fashion historians / artists.
Each print measures approximately 12.3" tall and 9.2" wide. Also included are the front pages of the book as well as the colored map of Breton which accompanies the prints.
These prints come from a book that was part of the Portland Art Museum's amazing reference library (sadly now closed) - which opened in 1892 with the Portland Art Association, and over the next 100 years amassed an incredible collection of rare art books for the use of local artists, art students, educators, and art dealers.
