Good home wanted for J Hudsons 1934 J Hudsons General Service Whistle in truly DREADFUL condition I promise
This whistle belonged to Tommy Aitkins, so I'm told,
of the 50th Mayola Volunteer Rifles.
It doesn't have a Govt. arrow on it so he probably nicked it.
He always said he was shot trying to singlehandedly repel an assault on Birmingham
by enemy submarines.
The more likely truth is that he was shot with a small caliber pistol,
possibly by a spy whilst cheating at cards,
that went straight through the whistle.
He survived as the bullet was lodged in the bible he always carried next to his heart.
Unluckily whilst fleeing from the card game he was run over by a tank,
hence the severe dents.
He survived to father 34 children and run a second hand car dealership in Scunthorpe.

GENERAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe people are basically good and want to help each other given the chance.
I also want my things to go to a good home where they are looked after and appreciated.
My basic philosophy is to describe all the defects and damage,
so you won’t be disappointed when the item arrives, see my feedback for accuracy of description.
I never clean things, not because I'm lazy, more of a fear of ruining things by over cleaning.
I've got into a bit of a habit of starting at a low price.
That way the item finds it's own price - and you often get a bargain.
I don’t put reserves on things and never withdraw anything,
even if I’m making a loss (and I do sometimes!).
POST & PACKING
I used to take a day off from the coal mine to post this stuff,
wrapping and lugging down to the post office
and for the pleasure of hanging about in a queue
for up to 45 minutes.
Plus if it’s my wife’s turn to wear the clogs
for her shift down the mine
I have to do the 18 mile round trip in bare feet.
That’s not as bad as it sounds
because I’ve trained myself to pick up fag ends between my toes.
anyway I let Ebay calculate the postage, now it was nice to add a few bob on for the hassle of P&P
and Ebay make the money on the postage
Thanks for your custom,
if you’re passing anytime we do tea and a sticky bun
for 40p a lump.
RETURNS POLICY
I have tried to describe this item honestly and to the best of my ability.
Should I have genuinely misrepresented this item,
I offer a full refund on return including postage costs.
PROBLEMS
If you have any problems about anything please get in touch rather than leave negative feedback.
There isn't a problem you'll have that I can't solve, and sometimes I might make a genuine mistake,
so don’t sit there feeling fed up, e-mail me. It is never my intention for you to feel stitched up.
If you have any questions regarding this particular item please ask them before bidding,
I have a project on at the moment and can’t always get to a computer every day,
please allow for this.
FEEDBACK
I will always leave positive feedback for prompt payment -
please leave feedback for me, then at least I know that the item has reached you.
POST & PACKING
I will post within 48 hours of cleared payment AT THE LATEST,
very often it’s sooner than that.
In fact if you don't get the item in a few days -
SOMETHING WILL BE WRONG!
email me immediately so I can sort it out
I now get a proof of posting thingamajig from the post office every time.
I use recycled packaging where I can, but I do it well,
NOTHING I send out gets damaged in the post.
If you get a package that looks as though it’s been wrapped
by a 3 year old wearing boxing gloves - that’ll be me.
I only send out things recorded if asked for (and paid for).
Postal insurance available at cost, please ask.
good luck and happy hunting
(and I really do mean that!).
