This is a fabulous antique piece of Americana!! It is a silk scarf that celebrates one of the oldest, largest, and most prestigious professional rodeos in the USA - THE PENDLETON ROUND-UP. This event is held annually in mid-September in Pendleton, Oregon. It began in 1910 and is widely known for its historical roots and unique traditions:
- held on a grass arena
- "Let 'er Buck" battle-cry began in the first years and continues
- the same bucking bronco image logo has been used since the beginning
- Native American Encampment called "Teepee Village" is a defining feature. Thousands of Native Americans from regional tribes gather to participate in competitive dancing and ceremonial parades.
This silk scarf represents all these qualities from the bronco slogan and logo to the delicate Native American Teepee border. Made in Japan. 26" square. Made between 1910 and 1930s.
Pre-owned but well cared for. The colors are bright. No moth holes and no stains. Fragile. When placed against a white background it is possible to see some thin spots as would be expected.
