Superb Victorian sterling silver gilt and glass wine jug / ewer, fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1869.

This is a stunning quality silver gilt and fine etched glass wine jug made by William & George Sissons in 1869.

The wine jug has lines of beading and fine chased decoration including a pierced thumbpiece.

The wine jug has a beautiful etched glass body with sprays of leaves and ferns.

The wine jug is 6 inches / 152 mm wide to the back of the handle and it stands 10-3/4 inches / 273 mm tall.

The jug weighs 810 grams.

The wine jug has clear hallmarks - lion passant, crown for Sheffield, duty mark, letter B for 1869 and maker's mark WS over GS for William & George Sissons.

The wine jug is in excellent condition.
