SUMMARY:
A  rare 
George Lewis of London Chain Fusee Verge Pocket Watch Square Pillar Movement dating from 1750.  

The watch with fusee chain on tight, but verge staff top pivot broken and balance spring needs tidying so sold as a PROJECT.  Kinldy note, no offers.


Note the watch movement with rare good original early enamel dial with case spring catch coming up through the dial at 6.00. With a beautiful pair of finely carved and fettle blue steel beetle and poker hands.

THE DIAL: 95%,  the original whiteenamel dial with fine black Roman numerals, and a separate minute track to outside of dial, with a few fine hairlines. The dial with a lovely set of original beetle and poker hands. Diameter is 37 mm.

THE MOVEMENT: 80% mint, with richly gilded full plate in wonderful condition. The rare balance cock and foot in superb condition and of a simple pattern, but beautifully engraved with leafs and similar motifs and grotesque mask to base. The balance cock with a brass bouchon to the centre of the shiny steel three arm balance wheel. The back plate with further decoration and a Tompion regulator. 

The watch is keywind, and movement size is 33 mm diameter.  The movement signed by G. Lewis of London, and there is a number 19508. Pierced gilded fusee stop work with iron hinge.
