A solid silver Russian cream jug by the important maker Ivan Khlebnikov, Moscow c1880.
The Khlebnikov factory opened in Moscow in 1871 and in 1879 it was awarded the title of Supplier to the Imperial Court of Russia, This stunning example has survived a revolution when many of Russias beautiful silverware was melted down by the state, and two world wars and eventually finding its way to my desk, a rare treat indeed.
Made from heavy gauge 84 Zolotnik standard silver the piece is finished in gilt lining to the interior and measures 7.2cm tall.
