For sale an immaculate, comprehensive 7-cover mega-set of official Royal Mail 'The Great War 1915' series envelopes uniquely carried forward and postmarked on 25.04.2016 for the ANZAC Centenary and London Stamp Show events.

This premium collection features specialized "For Valour" Victoria Cross location postmarks corresponding to the birthplaces/hometowns of WWI VC recipients, alongside the matching Battle of the Somme memorial cover.

Description
  • The Design: Every envelope features a powerful, sepia-toned illustration of World War I soldiers marching near a rocky landscape with the text "The Great War 1915".

These postmarks commemorate the specific birthplaces or hometowns of World War I VC recipients (such as Kensington, Cranbrook, Petersfield, Stourbridge, Toxteth, and Liverpool).

Note
The Royal Mail ran a massive, multi-year World War I centenary program stretching from 2014 to 2018. The base envelope graphic ("The Great War 1915") was designed and originally introduced in 2015. This specific collection includes premium, custom additions created for The Stamp Show (London 2016) / ANZAC Day on April 25, 2016. This means the producer/collector intentionally used the 2015-designed envelopes and "carried them forward" to get them uniquely postmarked on the 2016 anniversary milestone.
