The Medal "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on May 9, 1945. Medal was awarded to: all military personnel and civilian employees who took direct part in combat operations in the ranks of the Red Army, Navy and NKVD troops on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War or who ensured victory through their work in military districts.

The Medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 6, 1945. In accordance with the Regulation on the procedure for awarding the medal, approved by the Secretariat of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on August 21, 1945, this medal was awarded to persons who worked at an enterprise, institution, transport, state farm, or machine and tractor station for at least one year in the period from June 1941 to May 1945. Also, Medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War who returned to production were awarded, provided that they worked for at least 6 months during the specified period.

The "Guard" chest badge was established on May 21, 1942 by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR "On the introduction of guards military ranks for servicemen of guards units and formations of the Red Army and the Navy." The "Guard" badge was issued to servicemen of military units, formations and associations of the USSR Armed Forces that were transformed into guards, and its image was also placed on the banners of these units.
