The history of the creation of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine:

After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the restoration of Ukraine's independence in August 1991, the top management, realizing the importance of creating a military organization of the young state, considered the need to form a self-sufficient military intelligence system to be of primary importance. Thus, in order to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country, in parallel with the formation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the creation of the military intelligence system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began.
