UNEXPLORED SPAIN
ABEL CHAPMAN &
WALTER J. BUCK
EDWARD ARNOLD, LONDON
1910
First edition.
This is a classic and thoroughly interesting book. Chapman was a hunter and naturalist, but also a gifted writer and draughtsman. As a result of acquiring hunting rights in Las Marismas he became intimately acquainted with the wildlife of the Goto Donana region of south-western Spain. The first part of this book describes the area's natural history, whilst the second part is devoted to sport: as far as is convenient, chapters follow the change of seasons. Also included are numerous photographs and illustrations; a glossary of Spanish words and phrases; appendices on large game and spring migrants to Spain; supplementary notes on birds; and a very detailed index. (Shields, Spain; World Bibliographical Series)
In this wonderfully illustrated work, the authors detail all manner of Spanish game animals and birds, their natural history, and sporting opportunities. Ibex were hunted in the Sierra Morena and in the Sierra de Credos, while chamois were stalked in the Asturias region. (Czech & Valdez, Bibliography of Hunting Wild Sheep and Goats)
