Up for sale is a stunning, highly detailed Chinese multi-tiered wedding or betrothal basket. This traditional stackable carrier features three spacious compartments and a matching lid, all secured by an integrated, sturdy wooden carrying handle.

The basket showcases exceptional craftsmanship with a tight, fine herringbone split-bamboo weave across all tiers. The lid is adorned with a beautiful woven geometric pattern, while the heavy vertical wooden support struts are intricately hand-carved with traditional Chinese figures (scholars/immortals) set against natural landscapes. The top handle joint is reinforced with patterned brass/metal hardware.

Good vintage/antique condition with a beautiful, rich warm amber patina. The woven bamboo exterior is remarkably intact with no major unraveling or significant breaks to the outer weave.

There is a visible age/drying crack running across the wooden interior base of one of the middle tiers (see closeup photo). Expected surface wear, light scuffs, dust in the tight crevices, and minor paint/lacquer loss consistent with age and authentic use.
