Offering a stunning 1960s-70s Rosenthal Studio Line 7 3/4" high x 4 3/8" x 2 1/2" textured white bisque porcelain Brutalist oval vase known as the "Eruption" vase designed and signed by Martin Freyer. Inside is glazed shiny white. The remarkable and unique design features heavily defined three dimensional geometric relief bands that look like solidified waves of flowing lava or an erupting surface.

Martin Freyer was an architect, graphic designer (he created the Volkswagen VW logo in 1938), stage designer, textile and wallpaper designer, photographer, painter, teacher and a freelance designer of glass and porcelain for Rosenthal from 1964 to 1974. Many of Freyer's designs for Rosenthal's studio-linie or Studio Line, including this vase, aimed to make the surfaces of objects the decoration, dispensing with color altogether.

The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or other damage. There is some discoloration around the edge at the inside bottom.
