"My Demons" is Acrux's fourth album.
What is Acrux? A band from Castellón. It is the personal project of Pablo Gargallo Beltrán. A one-man band in the truest sense of the word: he plays all the instruments and sings himself. Acrux was founded in 2023 to give voice to all the music and all his demons that had no place in other projects the musician had worked on.
Here, on “My Demons,” he presents us with eight tracks. Eight unique moods. I’d say the foundation lies in the realm of extreme metal (doom, black, death), while he experiments with rockier sounds, sometimes taking big risks in the process. We won’t find any “speed bursts” here. We’re dealing here with something that bears the “Post” prefix, as his press release aptly puts it. Although in such cases I prefer to just go with the flow and not dissect what I hear, because “Post” is a term that has been heavily overused. It’s obvious that Gargallo let himself be guided by all his preferences, which aren’t necessarily confined to the metal genre.
A few keyboards and a melancholic guitar riff immerse us in “My Demons.” Here we find a purely emotional atmosphere.
