Offered here is an original International Safety Razor Corporation Class B Stock Certificate issued for 25 shares. This temporary certificate was intended to be exchanged for a permanent engraved certificate when available.
The certificate is dated 1928 with transfer noted 1940 and measures approximately 8" x 11". It was issued to an individual shareholder and bears original signatures, transfer markings, and cancellation punches.
Included with the certificate is an additional document that remained with the original document during its period of ownership and transfer:
Original stock transfer tax revenue stamps affixed to the reverse
New York Curb Exchange Securities Clearing Corporation charge ticket
Numerous cancellation and processing punch holes from brokerage and transfer activity
The reverse contains extensive printed provisions regarding shareholder rights and stock restrictions, along with transfer endorsements and guarantee stamps.
International Safety Razor Corporation was associated with the early safety razor industry during the first half of the 20th century, making this certificate an interesting piece of shaving, business, financial, and stock market history.
A nice original piece of financial ephemera that would appeal to collectors of stock certificates, shaving memorabilia, Wall Street history, revenue stamps, and early American corporations.
Notes About the Additional Paperwork:
The extra piece of paper is a New York Curb Exchange Securities Clearing Corporation charge ticket. The New York Curb Exchange was the predecessor of the American Stock Exchange. These tickets accompanied securities transfers between brokerage firms and clearing members.
The attached revenue stamps are stock transfer tax stamps, which were required when shares changed ownership. Many collectors actually prefer certificates that still retain their original transfer tax stamps and brokerage paperwork because they help document the stock's actual trading history.
