EVILACT are three musicians with roots in Murcia who, as a band, had already released the EP "Muerte y Guerra" (Death and War) in 2023, where they delivered a mix of thrash/death metal with lyrics in Spanish. This release is followed by "Futuro: Amenaza" (Future: Threat), which was recorded at Señal & Ruido Studios (Murcia) and begins with a rather lengthy introduction. For this style of music, “Error_889394” is a fitting title, where the final numbers are the last two digits of the three band members' birth years (88 / 93 / 94).

The guitar sound, the songwriting style, and the use of Spanish as the language strongly remind me of what was being done in the nineties, with distant references like MORDOR, TRAUMA's magnificent “Destino Oscuro,” or ANESTESIA (although they sang in Basque). I suppose this will be a very particular thing, and each listener will draw their own conclusions. What is undeniable is that EVILACT plays a raw style within thrash metal, with touches of death metal, featuring very clean-sounding solos where the melody shines through without overusing tremolo or distortion. The songs successfully combine speed and precision.

In total, one can enjoy twelve tracks that are very easy to listen to and blend together effectively. So the listening experience doesn't become tedious. Therefore, there are faster, more direct tracks like the intense "Pit of Sacrifices" or the savage "We Will Show No Mercy," one of the album's most aggressive and violent songs, interspersed with longer tracks like "Broken Cells, Loose Dogs," which I personally quite enjoyed, or "He Who Is Empty," which successfully blends distortion with melodic guitars.

"Future: Threat" is an album that seems to have gone straight from the rehearsal space to the studio with minimal filters, without excessive production, and featuring a striking cover by graphic designer Francisco J. Cayuelas, guitarist for the Murcia-based band SEMILLA ANIMAL. It might appeal to those looking for thrash metal without too many layers, mixing European rawness à la SODOM or DESTRUCTION with the melody and intensity of early American bands like METALLICA
