2.3" polished Strawberry Opal freeform display stone from Peru.  This freeform display piece has been polished around the piece to a smooth finish and cut flat on the bottom, allowing the piece to stand on its own nicely.  This piece is carved from a solid cluster of natural Strawberry Opal from Peru featuring deep pink hues through the stone.  This recent find of pink Opal from the Andes Mountains range in Peru shows bolder hues of pink than most pink opal.  Opal is a variety of Quartz that lacks a crystal structure, formed when silica combines with water and fills in cracks within host rock.  The color of pink Opals has been recently been attributed to inclusions of the silicate mineral palyorskite in addition to some organic compounds.  A beautiful Strawberry Opal polished freeform perfect for display.
