THE PRICE GUIDE TO ANTIQUE EDGED WEAPONS
LESLIE SOUTHWICK
ANTIQUE COLLECTORS CLUB LTD
1982
This book is an illustrated reference to the many types of edged weapon in use from medieval times to the early twentieth century both in this country and elsewhere. As such it is an invaluable source of information for all those interested in or wanting to learn more about the subject, quite apart from the helpful guidance on pricing which it contains.
With eight hundred plus examples illustrated, the author is able not only to compare and contrast quality of the individual items but also, by the chronological arrangement, to indicate the development of particular types.
Three sections Swords, Daggers etc., and Staff Weapons are further divided into a named group of weapons or into a recognisable typological grouping, thus giving the reader easy access to the type of weapon in which he has a particular interest.
This book is another welcome addition to the acclaimed Price Guide Series and, as a key reference, will fill a long-standing need for such a work felt by collectors and military researchers and historians.
Still a useful reference despite the outdated prices.
