The Brother TN-431 series toner cartridge is a laser supply for the HL-L8360CDW and MFC-L8900CDW, desktop machines that serve a small workgroup and handle automatic two sided output as standard. On this platform the toner cartridge and the imaging drum are separate service items, so the toner unit is a slim housing that clips onto the drum assembly while the drum itself remains in the printer across several toner intervals. Replacement begins at the front door, where the drum and toner assembly withdraws as one piece, the spent toner unit releases with a lever, and the fresh unit snaps into the same carrier before the whole assembly slides back along its rails. Toner particle size and melt behaviour suit the fuser profile of these engines, giving clean text at small point sizes and even coverage across solid fills. The control panel and the Brother print driver both report remaining toner life.
- Key Features:
- Separate Drum Architecture: The toner unit clips onto a drum assembly that stays in the printer across several toner intervals, keeping each routine change small.
- Lever Release Installation: The drum and toner assembly withdraws as one piece, the spent unit releases with a lever, and the fresh unit snaps into that carrier.
- Matched Melt Behaviour: Particle size and fusing characteristics suit these specific engines, producing crisp small point text and even coverage on solid areas.
- Standard Duplex Output: Both machines print automatically on two sides, so the supply feeds a workgroup that halves paper use on reports and internal documents.
- Toner Life Reporting: The control panel and the print driver both report remaining toner, giving notice before a workgroup is caught without a spare on hand.
