In 1974 Martin Alpert, M.D., and Carolyn Alpert founded the Tecmar Company in Ohio. Although they originally focused on computerized medical products, they moved toward data boards and auxiliary components. Specifically, they concentrated on auxiliary hardware for Apple and IBM PC. Tecmar was later acquired by a company called Overland Data in the year 2000.
Tecmar was responsible in creating many auxiliary peripheral components for the main computer, an important part of computer history.
