Simple round open ash basket.

This is 2.75" diameter top and 2" diameter bottom , 2" high to top of rim.  It has plain tidal sweetgrass wrapping the rim and a lovely band at the top of 3 ash splints dyed rose.

The basket could have been made by a basketmaker of any of the Wabanaki tribes ... hard to determine age - but I think it was made 1950-1980.  It was nicely made and functional -

This basket is made of brown ash splints, the traditional material of Maine and Eastern Canadian Wabanaki basketmakers. It has plain tidal sweetgrass wrapping rim. The Wabanaki Confederacy is 5 tribes, Abenaki, Maliseet, Mi'kmaq, Passamaquoddy and Penobscot living in what is now Maine, Eastern Canada and Vermont.\

In perfect shape - functional
