I believe this dates to the World War Two era

Elgin national watch closed it doors in the late 1960s

the rights to the ‘ Elgin watch ‘ name were sold ,..

but the new corp did not utilize the ‘ Elgin national watch co. ‘ title

These were used for applying small amounts of diamond paste / compound in the machinery process for polishing small precision parts

this device was used to apply specific amounts of diamond dust for the machining of intricate high tech machine parts

diamond lapping compounds are expensive ,.. you need a high quality syringe to apply the paste

Diamond powders are evenly suspended so there is no diamond agglomeration allowing for aggressive polishing and consistent part quality.

During World War II, the company halted all civilian manufacturing. It moved into the defense industry,

manufacturing military watches, chronometers, fuzes for artillery shells, altimeters, and other aircraft instruments and sapphire bearings used for aiming cannons.

this likely dates from the World War Two era

The original, obsolete factory in Elgin closed in 1964 after having produced half of the total number of pocket watches manufactured in the United States (dollar-type not included).

The plant, including its iconic clock tower, was razed in 1966.

The company maintained a leased building in Elgin that housed offices until about 1970.

A must have !
