About the location...

The site was initially developed as part of the Paradise Island Hotel and Casino, which opened in 1968 under the ownership of a company later acquired by television host and businessman Merv Griffin. Operations continued until 1994 when the property was purchased and construction began on what is now known as Atlantis.
