The best-selling video game console of all time, with a huge library of excellent games to try out. It also famously works as a DVD player.

In addition to testing that it works, I've opened this PS2 up and given it a thorough internal cleaning. My testing included making sure it can read discs, respond to input from either controller port, and read either memory card. I've also cleaned the contacts on the composite video output in order to get the cleanest signal possible out of it.

NOTE: This is the PAL version of the console. That means the console will only accept PAL DVDs (for both games and movies). There are mods that can be done to circumvent this region-locking, but they haven't been done to this console. Any officially produced game DVD you look at should clearly indicate whether it's meant for PAL or for NTSC.

Unlike the fat model, the slim model takes 8.5 volts DC (center positive) instead of AC. That means you don't have to worry about compatibility with your local mains voltage, but you do need a compatible power adapter.

Finally, note that nothing else is included with this console: no games, no controllers, no memory cards, no video cable, and no power adapter. You will need to acquire at least one of each of those in order to actually use the console.

I've tested this with a PS2 game, but I haven't yet tested that it successfully plays PS1 games. For now, buy it only if you're okay with the backward compatibility possibly not working. I will update this listing as soon as I've confirmed whether PS1 games work.
