This sale is for a brand new can motor upgrade kit for all HO scale AHM Rivarossi articulated steam locomotives. This kit will replace the early square motor or round motor mounted in the cabs of the early AHM Rivarossi Big Boy, Challenger, 2-8-8-2, and cab forward engines. This motor kit WILL NOT WORK in the newer versions of Rivarossi locomotives that have a flat can motor mounted inside the boiler. If you don't see a motor inside the cab, then it is inside the boiler. This motor kit WILL NOT FIT other Rivarossi steam engines. If you need a motor kit for other AHM Rivarossi steam locomotives, please see my other auctions.
There are some versions of Rivarossi articulated engines that are not compatible with this motor kit. If you have any questions, please contact me before buying this kit. The motor measures 30mm long x 18mm high x 18mm wide. this motor is a dual shaft design; the front motor shaft is 2mm in diameter and 10mm long. The rear motor shaft is 2mm in diameter and 8mm long. With no load at 12VDC, the motor draws 170ma and develops 8100 rpm. This motor will start turning smoothly on 0.5-volt DC and it is very quiet when operating. The stall current at 12 volts DC is 2 amps, this motor is DCC compatible with a 2-amp decoder. This is a very high torque, heavy duty motor, it has a 6-pole armature. With this motor kit installed, your locomotive will have smoother starts, better slow speed operation, A LOWER TOP SPEED, and reduced operating noise.
