Blue cloth boards with gold stamped text and illustration, decorative blue endpapers with repeating pattern of the Spirit of St. Louis, no dust jacket present. 8'x5.5". Condition Fair to Good. Boards are solid and clean. Spine is faded with chip and fraying at head of spine. Front hinge cracked and beginning to separate at the top. Some foxing and staining, with toning to page edges throughout. All pages present and readable. This copy came to me from the private collection of Conrad Frederick de Long, a farmer and eclectic collector from Chester County, Pennsylvania. The front free endpaper also bears the printed name of a previous owner, Edward S. Madara. 

The book is Charles Lindbergh’s own account of his life and his historic May 1927 solo transatlantic flight. The book was published in July 2027, just two months after the flight itself. It had a remarkable print run that reached 300,000 copies within months of publication, reflecting the worldwide sensation Lindbergh’s achievement created. It is illustrated with period photographs including a striking frontispiece of Lindbergh standing before the Spirit of St. Louis.
