Description: This is a vintage German straight razor made by the highly respected manufacturer Robert Klaas, based in Ohligs-Solingen. Known globally by their "Kissing Cranes" trademark, Klaas razors are famous for their high-quality steel. This specific razor is their "Crown Razor" model.
Condition: Important Note: This razor is being sold AS-IS, as a restoration project or for parts. Please read the detailed condition notes below.
The Blade: The blade shows significant pitting, dark oxidation, and rust patina across its entire surface. CRITICAL: There is a substantial chip/break along the cutting edge near the heel (the part closest to the handle). It is also dull. See photos for detailed close-ups of the damage.
The Markings: The tang features clear stamps: the "Kissing Cranes" logo with "ROBERT KLAAS" over "OHLIGS-SOLINGEN". The face of the blade still visibly reads "Crown Razor" alongside the Crown logo. The reverse tang is marked "153" and "5/8".
The Scales (Handles): The yellow/cream colored scales (likely celluloid or early plastic) are in remarkably good condition, with a nice striped texture. There are no obvious cracks, and the pivot pin is secure, holding the blade well.
The Case: Includes a vintage cardboard case with "The Warranted Trade Mark" on the cover. The case shows wear but is functional.
This is a great chance to own a piece of classic Solingen history, perfect for a restorer who can tackle blade work, or for someone looking for clean, usable vintage scales.
