AESOP'S FABLES - Year 3 Language and Literacy Teaching Pack


This pack, based on the fables of Aesop, will enable you and your pupils to explore characterisation, participate in discussion and debate and write fables of their own .

LESSON PLANS - enough for 2 weeks work, referenced to the learning objectives for year 3 from English Curriculum 2014  and with differentiated group activities. The lessons focus on:

  • defining a fable as a story with a moral;
  • adding _er and _est to construct adjectives in a comparative or superlative form;
  • identifying words that imply good or bad characteristics;
  • the use of speech marks when writing dialogue;
  • understanding the suffix _ness;
  • how to structure a debate;
  • write and punctuate narrative in the form of a fable.
