This is a fine quality pair of Art Nouveau Sterling Silver mounted glass vases made by the celebrated Silversmiths William Hutton & Sons Ltd with dates marks for Birmingham 1903 to the mounts, while the glass maker is a bit of a mystery, although they were sold to me as by Webb however, while this is quite possible as the glass inclusions are quite fine, I can’t categorically agree without reservations. They are depicted in a tapering form from the bulbus bases with lovely waved green / white glass inclusions, while the fine Sterling Silver, scalloped serpentine silver collars (which I assume is to imitate) flower heads adorn each vase. The collars are clearly struck with the above-mentioned marks to both pieces - see photographs and details.

        They measure, 4 3/4" (12cm) H x 3 1/2" (8.5cm) W (across the base) approx; and are in excellent condition with no defect at all to report, in fact they look to have not been used, however the collars have not been affixed to the bodies (all I can think of is this is how they  were sold as both hallmarks match and the collars fit perfectly so this is all I can think of) – and yes, apologies for the reflections, they couldn’t be helped.

        This is a beautiful superior quality pair of period Sterling Silver mounted vases by great makers that're in great condition and with a realistic, yet still low start price should get considerable interest from all collectors.

I will endeavour to report on an item which has had either; however I take no responsibility if an item has been tampered with and I cannot detect it.

OVERSEAS BUYERS

As different countries have different import laws and regulations it is incumbent upon the buyer to know what these are in relation to what they are bidding on. Almost all items I sell are antique unless otherwise stated and therefore well within the import requirements of this country, but maybe a grey area elsewhere, so please take note no responsibility will be taken if a problem with customs occurs.
