Common practice because of room & storage.

"History About The "3" Brochures Below"
These pamphlets document a specific era of regional transportation in Southern California during the mid-1980s, a time when public transit was undergoing major renumbering and expansion.
The Airport Bus - Pasadena Division (1984)This schedule, was effective March 4, 1984, it was part of a broader network of private airport shuttles that connected suburban hubs like Pasadena to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Here is some Historical Context in 1984 it was a pivotal year for Los Angeles transit due to the 1984 Summer Olympics. During this period, the Southern California Rapid Transit District (RTD) added over 500 extra buses and new routes to handle the influx of visitors.
Pasadena Transit pamphlet represents a private "Airport Bus" service, the City of Pasadena also launched its own "dial-a-ride" service for seniors and residents in 1984, which remains part of the city's transit history today.
Great American Stageline was Effective June 8, 1983, this pamphlet outlines an "Airport, Intercity & Charter" service connecting various points in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
The two brochures on the left are from Airport Coach, a primary shuttle service that connected regional airports directly to the "Anaheim Resort Area."
With having Key Connections In 1990, these shuttles were the standard way for tourists to reach Disneyland from LAX and John Wayne Airport (SNA). At the time, John Wayne Airport had just opened its new Thomas F. Riley Terminal (1990), leading to a significant increase in demand for these direct bus routes.
This service eventually evolved into the "Disneyland Resort Express," operated by Coach USA. For decades, it was a "Disney-branded" staple, stopping at over 60 hotels around the theme park.
After over 30 years of operation, this specific airport shuttle service officially ceased operations on January 7, 2020, largely due to competition from services like Uber and Lyft.
Here is some Service Area in the schedule lists terminal points including Santa Barbara, Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, and Woodland Hills, primarily serving LAX and Burbank airports.
Regional Significance types of private intercity lines were common before the massive expansion of the regional "FlyAway" bus services and the modern light rail system.
Something that's pretty interesting is the use of "Stageline" in the name is a nod to the historical stagecoach routes that once served the Conejo Valley (Thousand Oaks area) in the late 1800s.
Intracity Transit (1986)This schedule for bus routes and times, effective August 18, 1986, represents a local transit system during a decade of "Great Renumbering.
The System Changes In 1983, nearly all bus routes in the Los Angeles area were renumbered to a grid-based system to make the network easier to navigate.
The "IT" logo is a stylized version of branding used by transportation professionals. Similar "Intracity" names and branding were used by various regional systems during this time, such as those in Idaho or other smaller municipal networks that supplemented the larger RTD service.
What Happened to Them?
Like many mid-sized private coach companies of the 1980s and 90s, Great American Stageline eventually faced stiff competition from larger national entities and the expansion of publicly subsidized transit. Many of these independent lines were eventually absorbed by larger conglomerates such as Coach USA or Stagecoach Group and R.T.D during the massive industry consolidations of the late 1990s.
