VICTORIAN BLACK GLASS AND BLACK GLASS BEADWORK HATPINS, LOT OF 14 WITH NIPPON HATPIN HOLDER

Original Victorian hatpins, made with black celluloid like feather, black glass and black glass beadwork, lot of 14, no two alike. Nippon hatpin holder included, signed HAND PAINTED NIPPON.

CONDITION
Good condition for its age. Glass heads are firmly attached on its stem with no wear, no chip, no scratches. The stem are straight, no cracks or visible damage. Pieces that are offered may have wear, and I leave all cleaning and TLC up to the new owner.

Nippon Hatpin holder measures 4-1/2 inches in height.

The majority of hatpins were made from about 1890s through the 1920s with their popularity at a height between 1890 and 1925. Their manufacture was made possible by the invention of a pin-making machine around 1832. As fashion changed from stringed bonnets to stringless hats the low-cost machine-made pins became a necessity. The golden years of the hatpin, 1890 to 1925, were captured in the rich styles of Art Nouveau, the Aesthetic Movement, Arts & Crafts, and Art Deco. 

Our antique are collectible and are not new and not reproductions, and have lived a long and eventful life and sometimes developing flaws. We do not clean or alter unless stated in listing, and most times have been in storage for many decades picking up old age storage oxidation spots.
