Note on the disposal of used batteries
The following notice is intended for those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form in which they were supplied (end users):
1. What to do with used batteries
As we have a storage area of less than 400 square meters, we are not obliged to take back used batteries. Please find out where you can dispose of used batteries and hand them in at suitable collection points (retailers, local collection points, waste equipment disposal companies).
Battery law
As consignments may contain batteries and rechargeable batteries we draws your attention to the following in accordance with the Battery Act: Batteries and rechargeable batteries may not be disposed of with household waste. You are obliged to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries. Used batteries may contain harmful substances that can damage the environment or your health if stored or disposed of improperly. Batteries also contain important raw materials (iron, zinc, manganese, nickel) and can be recycled. You have the option of returning the batteries free of charge after use in your immediate vicinity (e.g. at retail outlets or municipal collection points). For end users, the return at points of sale is limited to the usual quantity and used batteries that the distributor carries or has carried as new batteries in his range.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out dustbin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005% mercury by mass, more than 0.002% cadmium by mass or more than 0.004% lead by mass, the chemical name of the pollutant used is shown under the dustbin symbol - ?Cd? stands for cadmium, ?Pb? for lead and ?Hg? for mercury.
