VICTORIAN SILK TRAINED WEDDING GOWN, 1901
A stunning Victorian light beige 2 piece silk with floral trim and with a slight trained wedding gown, circa 1901. The bodice has long curved sleeves, decorative long silk chiffon on front across back and front and over shoulders, high decorative neck collar, pouchy gathered front, inner cotton bodice with center front hook and eye closure and outer closure on side. The bodice is lined with white cotton with 11 fabric covered stays.
The long skirt has repeat vertical pleating around the skirt with a slight train. The skirt closes by hooks and eyes at the back. The skirt is lined with a cotton slip. Still retains its museum paperwork with catalog identification numbers. No inner sewn on tags. Deaccessioned from the Strong Museum of Rochester, N.Y.
CONDITION:
The outfit is in very good condition. No repairs and no stains. The bodice has no underarm discoloration saved by inner padding. Lining also in very good condition. Some small holes in silk chiffon on bottom of sleeves and 4 inch rip in streamer.
The skirt is in good condition. Very few very small holes in bottom hem of skirt, and with no stains.
