VICTORIAN 2 PIECE AFTERNOON VISITING DRESS 1893

A 1900s brown wool with red and white thin stripes woven into the fabric, 2 piece in construction dress that a clerk in a store or teacher would wear.

The bodice is decorated with standup collar with white braided cording on collar and cuffs. With vertical pleating on either side of front closure and adorned with a red velvet insert and red velvet covered buttons on cuffs and back split tail. Bodice is lined with a brown cotton and with no inner stays and has a front hook and eye center closures.

The skirt has a full back sweep with large pleating at back and gathered for a nice full fall, and lined with a two different printed patterned full length cotton lining. Adorned with hand embroidered red leaves at center front of skirt.

CONDITION
The bodice is in good condition. Underarm discoloration found on inside lining and not visible on outside fabric. No repairs, no stains.
The skirt is in good condition, few very small holes scattered about, no stains except for the full length fade area on one side of skirt.
