This is a very cool Mason's Kearns, Gorsuch Bottle Company of Zanesville, OH, Patent Nov 30th 1858 half gallon canning jar. The KGBCo monogram and a few of the embossed letters have a mottled texture.

What I learned through some research, the mottled texture is a result from the cleaning compound used on the mould. Some residue, maybe graphite, was left behind. Over time, it builds up in the recesses of the embossing mould which in turn causes weak or "ghosted" monograms and lettering. In some cases, entire letters may be missing. In this case, the logo and some of the lettering have a mottled texture. The bottom of the jar is marked with a #1. Includes a zinc lid with a porcelain liner.

The jar is in very good condition. There are swirls and bubbles in the glass. Very typical for glass production of that era of the late 19th century. No cracks. A few chiggers around the lip.
