This vintage stamp issued by the USPS honors one of the Founding Fathers of our nation, James Monroe. Monroe was the last Founding Father to achieve the presidency.  Monroe became the fifth President of the United States.

James Monroe is famous for his issuance of his famous "Monroe Doctrine." In this foreign policy statement, he warned European countries against interfering in the Americas.

Monroe was the president from 1817 to 1825. This stamp was issued on July 21, 1938.this 5-cent denomination stamp is designated by Scott #810.

This great stamp is used but it has a spectacular "bullet" style cancelation handstamp found only around that mid 1930s time period.

This stamp is in very good overall condition. It has not been hinged and the backing is clean without flaws such as thin spots or excess paper residues. This stamp has no rips, tears, creases, or folds.
