Further Description

This versatile 46-0-0 soluble prilled fertiliser is the exact same formula, whether marketed for [Urea], [Quick Green] or [Frost Melt]. It supports healthy growth for a range of plants and is a powerful de-icer Rock salt alternative

46% Urea Prills Ice & Frost Melt

Urea Prills provide an effective, mess-free solution for melting ice and frost on pedestrian surfaces while offering a safer, non-corrosive alternative to traditional rock salt. Commonly used in agriculture as a high-nitrogen fertiliser, urea is also well suited for winter maintenance where surface protection, pet safety, and reduced corrosion are priorities.

Unlike rock salt, urea does not corrode concrete, metal, vehicles, railings, or tools, making it ideal for use in sensitive areas. The uniform prilled form spreads easily, dissolves cleanly, and leaves no gritty residue behind.

How It Works

Urea lowers the freezing point of water, allowing ice and frost to soften and break down for easy removal. As it dissolves, it creates a liquid brine that helps prevent re-freezing when applied correctly.

How to Use

1. Apply evenly by hand or with a standard spreader.

2. Use light, even coverage — more product does not mean faster melting.

3. For best results, apply before ice fully bonds to the surface or at the first sign of frost.

4. Allow time for the ice to soften, then brush or shovel away slush if required.

5. Reapply only if conditions persist.

Typical application rate:

Light frost: ~20–30 g per m²

Heavier ice: ~40–60 g per m²

(Always adjust based on conditions and surface type.)

Effective Temperature Range

• Works down to approximately –7°C (20°F)

• Best performance between 0°C and –5°C

• Ideal for light to moderate frost and ice conditions

Suitable Applications

Urea prills are suitable for a wide range of pedestrian and light-traffic areas, including:

1. Footpaths and pavements

2. Driveways

3. Steps and stairways

4. Ramps and access points

5. Patios and decking areas

6. Shop entrances

7. Car park walkways

8. School and nursery paths

9. Hospital and care-home entrances

10. Public buildings and offices

11. Residential pathways

12. Commercial premises and loading walkways

Safer & Surface-Friendly

• Non-corrosive to concrete, metals, and infrastructure

• Used correctly it is much kinder to pets with a reduction in paw irritation compared to rock salt

• Mess-free: dissolves cleanly with no gritty residue

• Less damaging to surrounding surfaces than traditional chloride salts

Dual-Purpose Benefit

In addition to ice control, urea is a widely used nitrogen fertiliser (46% N). When applied in winter conditions, small residual amounts may be absorbed into surrounding soil once temperatures rise, offering an added benefit when used responsibly and sparingly.

Environmentally Considerate Choice

Compared with rock salt, urea is less aggressive to surfaces and infrastructure and avoids chloride build-up. When used at recommended rates, it offers a more environmentally considerate option for winter footpath safety.

NOTE: Colour labels are for illustration purposes only, tubs and bags will be supplied with a black & White label detailing all relevant information.

IMPORTANT - OVER APPLICATION WARNING - Contains 46% Nitrogen. Excessive use may damage grass and plants and cause nutrient runoff negatively affecting the environment.
