This allows the DSP-based digital IF filter in the final IF stage to perform at its full potential. The TS-990S's main receiver employs a down-conversion method with a first IF frequency of 8.248 MHz when receiving on all amateur bands. This achieves excellent close-in dynamic range characteristics not possible with conventional up-conversion methods. Even when interference is at a nearby frequency, a nearly flat dynamic range characteristic is maintained, allowing you to capture only the desired signal without missing a beat.
