180g vinyl with insert in a deluxe PVC sleeve - for the first time ever on vinyl! “Low Symphony”, produced by PHILIP GLASS in spring 1992, is based on the album “Low” by DAVID BOWIE and BRIAN ENO, which was originally released in 1977.
GLASS took three themes from instrumental tracks on the original, combined them with his own material and used them as the foundation of the three movements of “Low Symphony”. Movement one is from the song "Subterraneans", movement two is from "Some Are" (which did not appear on the original BOWIE recording) and movement three is from "Warszawa".
The “Low Symphony” was performed by the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Dennis Russel Davies as principal conductor and Karen Kamensek as assistant conductor. PHILIP GLASS allowed ideas from BOWIE and ENO, who worked together on "Low", to influence how he worked on the music - leading to surprising musical results and creating a true collaboration between the music of all three maestros.
