Nimrod, Green Day's fifth studio album, was originally released on December 14th. Published October 1997. Described by Kerrang as "Green Day's best album," the Billboard Top 10 LP was powered by hit singles "Hitchin' A Ride," "Redundant," "Nice Guys Finish Last" and "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)," the latter of which sold 5 million copies in the U.S. alone. Written as a wicked ballad, the song has become the soundtrack to the most important moments in everyone's life; he was even heard in the finale of the series Seinfeld. The album has sold over 3 million copies in the United States (triple platinum) and has been certified multi-platinum, platinum or gold in several other countries, including the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Australia and Spain.
This 25th Anniversary Edition includes the original album, a disc of previously unreleased Nimrod demos, and a live set from Philadelphia recorded a month after Nimrod's release. The 14-track demos include two unreleased Green Day tracks ("You Irritate Me" and "Tre Polka") as well as a cover version of the Elvis Costello classic "Allison" (previously unreleased). The live album was released on the 14th. Recorded November 1997 at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. The 20-song set features several songs from Nimrod, as well as fan favorites from their previous albums and singles.
