One of his best: “On Air” reissued
Although "On Air" is perhaps Alan Parsons' least noticed album, it is considered by connoisseurs to be one of his best.
To the 25th To mark the anniversary, the British musician, sound engineer and producer is re-releasing the concept album in 2021 on CD and LP.
"On Air" is Alan Parsons' second solo album after the dissolution of the Alan Parsons Project. It was originally published in 1996.
The concept album is about the history of research by aircraft. The theme of “Too Close To The Sun” is escaping the Minotaur’s labyrinth. "Brother Up In Heaven" is an emotional song about the death of APP guitarist Ian Bairnson's cousin. “One Day To Fly” is about Leonardo da Vinci’s mission to invent a flying machine.
Musically, this album differs somewhat from its predecessor “Try Anything Once” and the Alan Parsons Project albums. Instead of funky rhythms, the progressive rock sound has become gentler.
Some Stars of the scene are represented as singers on “On Air”: Christopher Cross, Eric Stewart, Neil Lockwood, Steve Overland and Graham Dye.
