At the beginning of 1982, five friends, who were recruited from the scattered remnants of the then underground German punk legend ZK, founded Die Toten Hosen. The predictions from those around them for the lifespan of the band were: a few months.

Today, 40 years later, after countless trials and tribulations, anthems, hits, bankruptcies, bad luck and mishaps, Die Toten Hosen are not only one of the longest-lasting and most successful German-speaking bands, but are also part of the cultural canon of the Federal Republic of Germany. “We didn't choose this, but someone had to do it,” is how Campino, singer and frontman of the band, which has so far survived three and one female chancellors, comments on this astonishing anniversary.

On the occasion of their milestone birthday celebrations, Die Toten Hosen are not only treating themselves to a big tour, but also to themselves and their fans an extensive showcase of their work, which will be released in a lovingly designed quadruple vinyl LP box, double CD and digitally. In addition to the most important numbers from the four decades of their work, Andi, Breiti, Campino, Kuddel and Vom also took the opportunity to record seven brand new pieces together with their long-time producer Vincent Sorg. In addition, several already released classics from the band's repertoire were re-recorded and others were brought up to date with a remix.

Die Toten Hosen: »It's a matter of honor that we wanted to give people new music for our big birthday and for the concert dates scheduled for it, which we are particularly looking forward to. And while we were in the studio, we allowed ourselves the luxury of reworking or updating a few numbers that were close to our hearts for a variety of reasons. “Primarily as a gift to us, but of course we’re also happy if other people enjoy it too.”
