MAMIYA 35 (I) camera was the first model of a series of 35mm rangefinder cameras. Mamiya started the production in 1949. Many of the camera's features were copied from the successful medium format camera line.
Serial number 81 108. The camera is equipped with a 1:3.5 f=50mm Konishiroku lens; serial number 39 927. The lens is set in a Copal leaf shutter (settings B, 1 - 1/200 sec; the 1/200 sec setting requires an extra spring).
The little box below the lens hides the shutter cocking and release levers. It also displays a red spot behind a little hole on the right-hand side in case the shutter is cocked.
Leica style transport knob, frame finder, and cable release coupler. Coupled rangefinder with a single window. Demagnification 0.6.
An unusual feature (taken over from the medium-format cameras) is that focusing does not move the lens, but changes the position of the film plane. Focusing wheel on the right upper rear with distance display in feet and a depth-of-field display.
The camera is in good cosmetic condition and is fully functional. Film transport and frame counting are working. Shutter works at all settings. Focusing is working. Finder is clear, rangefinder provides a clean image with good overlap (at infinity).
The lens is in good condition, too. Lens glass is clear, no sign of scratches, cleaning marks, etc.
The camera comes with the original brown leather case.
