Printed for the Society in an edition of 50 copies by the Southworth-Anthoensen Press in 1942.
In 1942 the Society adopted a new Constitution which is printed here, along with a list of current and past officers and members. Founded in 1910, The Walpole Society has been dedicated to the appreciation and scholarship of American arts for over 100 years. Its initial membership included S.P. Avery, Edwin Atlee Barber, Francis H. Bigelow, Dwight Blaney, H. Eugene Bolles, Thomas B. Clarke, George Munson Curtis, Henry Wood Erving, Harry H. Flagler, Hollis French, Henry W. Kent, Luke Vincent Lockwood, Albert H. Pitkin, Charles Hitchcock Tyler, and Theodore S. Woolsey.
Books by its members, both past and present, rank among the most important and long-lasting works in the fields of American decorative arts scholarship. The private publications of the Society are less well-known. In its early years the Society published several Glossaries of the decorative arts, and its publication of Hollis French's book on American silver was the first study of the marks of American silversmiths. Since 1926 the Society has also published a yearly Note Book, containing articles and essays by members, as well as accounts of meetings at a variety of interesting and historic places. Published by fine presses on rag paper and in extremely limited editions, these Note Books are extremely difficult to come by. Certain essays have also been issued as offprints.
Paper covers, 4.25x6.75, 21 pages. Covers with some light wear, corners thumbed, some minor scattered soil on a few pages.
