James Audubon's Birds of America, published 1840-1844. 

Lithographed, printed, and colored by J.T. Bowen, Philadelphia, 1840-44.

         The first octavo edition was produced under the direct supervision of John 

James Audubon and features strictly hand-coloring.  

         The credits are in BLOCK LETTERS, as required, for royal octavos 1-150. 

Includes a facsimile of the title page.

         Comes in a plastic protector, and will be sandwiched between rigid boards for safe mailing.
