This heavy solid brass reproduction of the Mark III British Prismatic Military Marching Compass is inspired by the classic handheld navigation instruments used by military surveyors and field engineers. Built with a durable brass body and finished in antique polish, this engineering lensatic compass combines historical military design with practical navigation functionality.

The compass features a precision prismatic sighting system, allowing the user to simultaneously view the compass card and the distant object being sighted. The lid opens to reveal a front prismatic sight that folds over the compass, functioning as a front sight while the rear sight line is built into the protective glass window of the lid. This design allows accurate directional alignment similar to traditional military marching compasses.

A magnifying prism lens enlarges the compass card for clearer readings while sighting a target. The compass card displays both the standard 0–360 degree scale and the 0–64 mil scale, commonly used in military navigation for range estimation and directional measurement.

The rotating brass bezel ring is marked in 10-degree increments and includes detents, allowing the heading reference to be changed by feel without looking at the compass. A side adjustment screw allows the user to vary the tension of the detent mechanism. The outer compass case is engraved with a compass rose, enabling quick visual orientation for rough directional determination.
