On December 7th, this battleship was in dry dock, and only lightly damaged by enemy

aerial bombs. However, 15 crewmen were killed, 14 listed as missing and 38 wounded

in this battle. She was released from her shipyard prison after the dry dock's caisson was

flooded and opened. She sailed on 20 December to Puget Sound Shipyard for repairs,

and went on to earn ten WW II Battle Stars in the Pacific Theater and a Navy Unit Citation.

Cover franked with various 73 cent Flag stamps # 5875-78 (FDOI) and a 55 cent USS Missouri stamp  # 5626. The ship was present in a 1937 USN ship parade on dedication day for the new Golden Gate Bridge.
